Prompt: Spike, Everybody knows that vampires are bisexual, but nobody knows that as a human William was gay.
Summary: It wasn't until he regained his soul that Spike remembered much of his life before he lost it and became a vampire. One night he muses over his sexuality, then and now.
Warnings: brief, vague masturbation scene
Author's Notes: I don't own Buffy the Vampire Slayer or any of its characters and am not making any money from them. I do claim all original characters in this work. The families/titles are real but I didn't look up actual people (though I'm insane enough to have Burke's Peerage on my bookshelf.) Having written Spike a zillion times, I was really drawn to this prompt because I hadn't ever thought of this scenario for William. In my opinion, the Victorian attitudes and morality wouldn't have lent themselves to William expressing his homosexual thoughts and desires, so this isn't a particularly positive fic for gay men in that time period. On the other hand, Spike's views in the present are much more positive. Unlike most of my fics, I went with the canon for Spike/William's background.
