Though queer_fest is officially closed to new posts, the queer_fest prompts are still open for anyone who would like to use them for inspiration.

No claiming is necessary and any of the prompts - claimed or not claimed - are up for grabs. Post any new story to the AO3 or your own journal and link them in the comments of this post. There is no minimum word count.

Please do consult the rules. The rule about not changing the sexuality or gender orientation of a prompt is still in place.

As always, posting to the AO3 collection is optional.

You have a little over 24 hours to post any Free For All fics. Posting to Queer Fest will end tomorrow evening at 11:59 p.m. PST.

Thanks to everyone who has participated so far! You continue to make Queer Fest an awesome experience.

If for whatever reason you haven't finished your story but would still like to, the free for all period begins in three days! It begins on 12:01 a.m. June 17 and lasts until 11:59 pm PST on June 30th. If you've claimed a prompt and haven't finished it yet, you can do so during this time.

If a prompt hasn't been claimed, anyone can write a story based on the prompt and submit it during this time. No claims are needed and you do not need to have participated in Queer Fest in order to write during Free For All. If you've claimed something during this round but were unable to finish it but another unclaimed story grabs your attention, that's fine, too! The same rules about not changing the queer identity of the character are in place, but the stories can be of any length. Drabbles are fine and encouraged.

Regular posting for the fest begins on May 1st and continues until June 16.

Quick reminders about posting:

1. You can post anywhere you like, as long as you post at least a link to the community. Works should be open to the public, and not flocked.

2. You are welcome to use the AO3 collection, but it is entirely optional.

3. All stories during the fest must be 1000 words.

4. Please see the rules post for any other requirements related to stories.

Amnesty Wednesdays

Any Wednesday during the fest is an Amnesty Wednesday. If you finish your stories late or finish them early, you are welcome to post on Amnesty Wednesday instead of your assigned posting date. This only applies to those who have signed up for the fest.

Free-For-All Period

June 17 - June 30th is the Free For All Amnesty Period, in which anyone can write fics from any of the unclaimed prompts. You do not have to be signed up for the fest to write fic during this period. Fics written during this period do not have to be 1000 words and there is no claiming for the Free For All period. If you are unable to complete your claim during the regular fest, you are also welcome to post during the Free For All period.

Posting If You Don't Have a Dreamwidth Account

You don't have to post your fic directly to DW, but you do have to post at least a link to wherever you've posted your fic - tumblr, LJ, A03, etc. If you don't have a DW account, you are welcome to leave a comment to this post (you can do so anon) with a link to your fic and the mods will post it ASAP to the community for you.
