Queer Fest Prompt Post 2013

This is the prompting post!

Prompts can be from any fandom. Please read the rules post first.

When leaving prompts, please leave them in the following form: Fandom, characters, prompt.

Crossovers should be left in the following form: Crossover, fandom a/fandom b, characters, prompt. (please put fandoms in alphabetical order)

RPF prompts should be left in the following form: RPF, fandom(s), characters, prompt.

You can leave as many prompts per comment as you like and as many prompts in one comment as you like! You do not have to plan to claim prompts in order to post prompts and posting prompts does not mean you have to participate in the claiming round. If you wish to recycle prompts from previous rounds of queer_fest or lgbtfest, you are welcome to do so.

Any questions/concerns about prompts should go to the rules post or via pm to the mod account. The rules post has been set to screen all comments to preserve privacy. If it's just a general question and not a problem with a prompt, it will be unscreened. Please contact us if you have a problem.

Things to keep in mind:

  • Comics fandoms: When prompts are compiled for claiming, all Marvel comics will be grouped together by universe - i.e., Marvel 616 or Marvel Ultimates, including the X-Men. The same is true for the DC Comics universe. Movies will be grouped together as well. The Avengers movies will be grouped together, but the X-Men and Spider-Man movies will be listed separately because they are not the same 'verse. Likewise, the Nolan Batman movies and Superman movies will be listed separately from the comics and from each other.  So if you want to keep that in mind when you are prompting, that's great! If you don't, that's fine, too, and we'll take care of it during the compiling period.

  • This year, we are trying out anon commenting for the first time, due to the LJ situation. Anon comments are screened, and will be unscreened as soon as they are approved. If you post anon prompts, please do check back to see if we have any questions about your prompts.

Happy prompting! Prompting will remain open until Friday, March 15th @ 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.

EDITED: You are welcome to add new prompts throughout the prompting period but please do so in a new comment. Do not reply to your old comment or edit your old prompt. We are trying a new way of compiling prompts this year, so we may miss your prompt if you go back and reply to yours or edit your prompt. Just leave a new comment, please.

Prompting is over! Claiming will open on Monday, March 18.

Body of Proof, Lacey Fleming, She knows her mom's going to be *extremely* supportive of her orientation. That's the *problem.* Can't she at least have one parent who goes "I hope she treats you right. What do you want for dinner?"?

due South, Ray Vecchio, undercover with the mob in Las Vegas is not a particularly good place to start questioning your sexuality.

NCIS: LA, Nell, She simultaneously makes a breakthrough on their case and outs herself. She's pretty focused on the first part, but apparently the rest of the team is focusing on the second.

Hawaii Five-0, Rachel, She's had two good marriages with two good men and they've both fallen apart. She's starting to wonder if maybe it's her fault--maybe she hasn't been completely honest with them, or herself.

Teen Wolf, Allison/Lydia, the five times Lydia realized she was attracted to girls and how she comes to terms with her bisexuality. Bonus points for archery practice, Lydia teaching Allison to ballet, and a day at the beach.

Teen Wolf, Stiles/Danny, Stiles and Danny are lab partners. A lot. Shenanigans and re-evaluating sexuality ensue.

Teen Wolf, Laura, on the road after the Hale fire, the two Hale siblings see a lot of things. Laura gets a job at an alternative bookstore in New York and when a few of the customers invite her out to Splash, she doesn't think anything of saying yes. When she has a lot more fun than she expected, and meets a few savvy lesbians, Laura realizes quite a few things about herself than she expected.

Mass Effect, Female Shepard/Tali, Tali teaches Shepard about how to take of the Normandy's engines and a few other things.

Mass Effect, Jack/Miranda, the night at Commander Shepard's party takes some surprising twists and turns that have both of them questioning more than each other's choice in wardrobe.

Degrassi: The Next Generation, Paige/Alex, tv show night or rather, how Alex gets Paige hooked on queer soaps and accidentally starts Paige on a campaign to change modern media

Community, Jeff/Dean Pelton, Jeff really never expected to actually get to know the Dean, let alone consider him a friend, let alone make out with him during the Christmas bash due to some unexpected mistletoe and horrendously overspiked eggnogg. And he really REALLY didn't expect liking it. Jeff figures there are first times for everything and starts planning out that coming out speech Pierce always kept bugging him about.

Community, Troy/Abed, Abed wants to go to a pride parade because of reasons, Troy goes along because he can't say no to Abed. Neither are surprised to see Dean Pelton on one of the floats.

Community, Abed, how Abed realized he was asexual.

Tron: Legacy; Sam Flynn; coming out was just another stupid stunt to annoy the board in a long line of stupid stunts. It doesn't make it not true, it just doesn't make it a big deal, either.

Tron: Legacy; Sam Flynn; the media still tends to think of him being gay as another form of rebellion.

Tron: Legacy; Any; when gender and appearance and function is encoded, any character dealing with their sexuality and/or identity (whatever it may be)

Chrestomanci; Cat Chant; everyone thinks he and Marianne Pinhoe are going to get married, but they aren't each other's type. (Post-Pinhoe Egg; Gay friendships!)

Chrestomanci; Millie; loving Christopher doesn't mean she's straight.

Sherlock (BBC); Kitty Reilly; once she left the army, she stopped being Sebastian Moran and started being Kitty.

Sherlock (BBC); Kitty Reilly; MtF!Kitty reacting to Sherlock's "you repel me"

Sherlock (BBC); Kitty Reilly/Moriarty; They first started business when Moriarty hired Moran for a hit. When Moran used the money for the operation she'd always wanted, and became Kitty the journalism student, Moriarty merely asked if she still wanted to work for him. It's turned out pretty well.

Any; Any; being queer doesn't mean gaining an automatic knowledge of all the places to hang out.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-09 01:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Sherlock (BBC), Sebestien Moran/Moriaty, He's being in the SAS and knows over a hundred ways to kill a man. There is no way anyone is going to believe that Moriaty is beating him up every night.

MASH, Hawkeye, He wants to bring his husband to the next reunion, but is worried about the other's reactions.

Nightside (books), Ms Fate, people make a lot of assumptions about Ms Fate due to her civilian identity being male. Most of them are wrong; a few aren't.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-09 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Sir Danvers Carew, Hyde had reasons for killing him, and they involved protecting himself and Jekylls repuation

Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Jekyll is gay and believes himself comfortable with this. Hyde is Not.

From Eroica With Love, G, G may enjoy dressing up as a woman, but he still wants the men he dates to acknowledge that he's a man.

From Eroica With Love, Klaus/G, the real reason that Klaus doesn't object to G cross-dressing at work is that it's easier to repress the attraction to him when he looks like a woman.

Harry Potter, any, in a world where it's easy to change bodies with spells and potions, it's hard to make people believe that being trans* isn't just a temporary phase.

Iron Man, Rhodey, everyone assumes that Rhodey's straight, but they wouldn't be surprised if he'd once had a fling with Tony; the irony is that Rhodey is the one who swings that way, and Tony was the one who had to let him down gently.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-10 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Song of the Lioness, Alan(na) - Prompter is itching for the story that could've been, had Alanna been FtM - reasons for becoming a knight, reasons for (not?) clarifying her identity, relationships with Jonathan and George as well as implications for having the Great Mother Goddess as a patron when your female body doesn't match your male heart. Prompter is hoping for something tangled and messy and gray, rather than straight-forwardly happy-endingy.

Iron Man (movies), James Rhodes(/Tony Stark), Rhodey lived under DADT for half his life. Rhodey has been friends with Tony for half his life. All the public womanizing that comes along with being Tony's friend also makes Tony a safe person to crush on... until the repeal, when Rhodey can finally do something about it.

How does Rhodey navigate finally being able to be honest about how he feels? How DOES he feel?

Gen, slash, or unrequited. Tony/Pepper welcome.

Marvel Cinematic Universe, Maria Hill/Natasha Romanova, Natasha is aromantic and Maria is best described as career-sexual. That doesn't mean they're not committed to each other - Natasha respects people who will kill her if necessary, after all.

Marvel Cinematic Universe, Peter Parker and Steve Rogers, After a blind date gone wrong - you guys have so much in common! You're both from New York, you're both in your twenties, and you both like art - Steve and Peter don't expect to see much of each other. Neither one is entirely sure how Peter ends up being Steve's guide to modern gay New York.

DCU, Damian Wayne, Damian was born female but raised male in a heavily misogynist environment and discouraged from questioning the plans his family set out for him. No-one's ever asked him how he identifies before.

Either classic DCU or DCnU are OK as long as the events from Batman Inc. #8 (2013) don't happen.

Homestuck, Bro Strider, queer parenting at a young age. Bro Strider is flying solo, raising a little boy who isn't exactly his. He's not sure which part the authorities have the biggest problem with: the fact that he's a young single dad - so weird - or that he occasionally hooks up with dudes.

Glee, Unique, No one's ever asked her what her orientation is. It's like everyone just assumes she doesn't want to date.

Glee, Unique, Everyone's advice about how to be gay at McKinley is well meaning, but annoying. She's not a gay man, she's a straight woman.

Glee, Jake, It's really hard to come out as bi when your brother was the school slut. Everyone will just think he's taking it one step further.

Glee, Rachel. Her son is gay, and if she hears one more comment about it skipping a generation she's going to kill someone. Her bio-parents were straight, anyway.

Reposts:

Supernatural, Dean Winchester, Forced to attend another fan convention, Dean attends a panel on queerness in the books by mistake. Suddenly 50 women are energetically talking about how he's obviously bisexual and what a fantastic portrayal it is of queerness being normal and not something to make a big deal out of. Well, it's a big deal to him - because suddenly he realizes they might be right.

Marvel Comics, Sam Wilson/Steve Rogers, An issue of the Avengers tells us that Sam's parents were very open and tolerant towards most things. Likewise, Steve is pretty accepting of differences. Despite their other differences and conflicts, that makes the actual getting together go pretty smoothly. So for Sam and Steve, it is both amusing and irritating when people automatically assume otherwise.

Sherlock, John/Sherlock/Sally/Lestrade it was strangely Sherlock´s "death" which started all this, but even though they had to go through lots of grief its the best thing that ever happened to them

Sherlock, John/Sherlock/Sally being asexual doesn´t mean he doesn´t love them, it just means he rather watches them, than having to participate in sex

Oz the Great and Powerful, Oscar "Oz" Diggs, Actually, the greatest trick of them all was getting people to take him seriously as a man.

Marvel Cinematic Verse, Tony/Pepper, Tony and Pepper have begun a relationship and though Tony knew Pepper was ace, now they have to find their way with what they are both comfortable with. Bonus for Tony worrying he's pushing Pepper beyond her comfort zone.

Cabin Pressure, Martin Crieff, Martin has never really had that many offers, so he's always taken what he could get, regardless of gender. He rather thought that's what it was like for everyone, and that sexual orientation was sort of like picking a football team to support.

Cabin Pressure, Martin Crieff, yes, he's unusually short and is surprisingly hairless, but he doesn't mind being teased about it so long as no one jumps to the right conclusion about which gender he was assigned at birth.

Doctor Who, any companion or OC, anywhere in time and space? The best SRS clinic in the galaxy, please.

Doctor Who, Canton Everett Delaware III, the decision to leave the FBI

Doctor Who, Canton Everett Delaware III, Canton as a companion to the Doctor: how does he react to the future of gay rights, and how does it change his outlook on life and his relationship?

Doctor Who, Martha Jones and Donna Noble, When someone tries to insult Martha for being gay, Donna gives them Hell like she's never given anyone Hell before.

Downton Abbey, Thomas Barrow, being in a committed relationship is definitely changing him for the better. But how does everyone else deal with it?

MCU, Tony Stark, "I've slept with women while I was blind drunk too, but you don't see that explained away as a drunken binge"

NCIS, any character, Now that DADT isn't an excuse anymore, why are they still in the closet? (I don’t know if DADT affected NCIS, but that’s up to the author)

NCIS, any character/any character or OC, trying to be in the closet at work and somewhat open outside

Psych, Lassiter, Internalized homophobia

Psych, Lassiter, Lassiter has dutifully ignored all romantic feelings toward anyone other than Victoria. When the marriage plans fall apart, he has to confront the fact that most of those feelings have been directed toward men.

Batman, Harvey Dent, Even before Two Face, he felt like his life was divided in two. There was his work and life he was building with Gilda. And then there were the seedier places and Matches Malone.

Batman, Harvey Dent/Bruce Wayne, He'll never give up on Harvey, no matter what Two Face says.

Batman, Harvey Dent/Bruce Wayne, when they've both spent their whole lifes dividing things in two, is it any wonder one of them snapped? Bruce just never thought it would be Harvey.

Batman, Bruce Wayne, It feels like he's spent his whole life in rebellion of his parents wishes and ideals. His sexuality is just one part of it. (Possibly an AU where his parents are alive)

Harry Potter - Ginny Weasley, Harry Potter, Lavender Brown - While dating Harry at Hogwarts, Ginny develops a romantic and sexual relationship with Lavender Brown in secret. She decides to come out as bisexual to her boyfriend (Harry), confessing that she would like to continue in the relationships with both Harry and Lavender. Ginny deals with the prejudices that come along with coming out as bisexual and with desiring a polyamorous lifestyle.

Dallas (Any), Any, A closeted character is being blackmailed.

Dallas (Any), Any, In this family/business, coming out seems like the safer choice, at least in the long run.

Dallas (2012), Ann Ewing, Ann's bisexuality was just another thing Harris tried to control and belittle her for.

Dallas (2012), Emma Ryland, Ann Ewing, Emma gets a surprise when she tells her mother that she likes women: it turns out Ann does, too.

Dallas (2012), Sue Ellen Ewing/Ann Ewing, Sue Ellen wants personal and political honesty and openness to be the basis of her gubernatorial campaign. Does that include mentioning her relationship with Ann?

Dallas (2012), Bobby Ewing/Ann Ewing, When, why, and how Ann tells Bobby that she's bi.

Dallas (2012), Ann Ewing, Yes, Ann is bi. Yes, Sue Ellen is a Republican. No, the party's record on LGBT issues will not stop her from supporting Sue Ellen's campaign.
